An excerpt from my work in progress

I’ve been working on my YA fantasy novel. I totally scrapped what I had done before because it was… not terrible, but pretty close. Yuck.

I’m pretty excited about where my novel is going and I thought I’d share a little. In this scene, Drue and Aiden are getting a surprise that has them both emotional. Here’s a little excerpt for you. Enjoy!!

Beau laughed as he caught me and kissed my forehead, staggering backwards when Aiden slammed into us, enveloping us both in his long arms.

“You’re here. You’re here. You’re here,” I chanted, trying to make myself believe it. Beau’s family had summered here for generations, but he always went back home in August. Seeing him here in school was surreal, at the least.

“Yes, Princess, I really am here,” Beau said, still laughing with happiness, his arms tight around both of us in a hug. I hid my face in his neck and tried to stop crying.

“This is seriously going to be the best school year ever,” Aiden said, his face buried in my hair, his voice thick and muffled.
